Tuesday 11th September

What a wonderous day we had at the ‘ 2012 Lunch with the stars’ hosted by our CBCA Northern Sydney Sub Branch. The atmosphere was perfect, just like Hogworts in the inspirational gothic Dining Room of the old St Patrick’s Seminary on the hill in Manly.

About 180 primary school children from 12 local schools attended to enjoy lunch with 24 of Sydney’s best loved authors and illustrators.

I sat with the kids from Stewart House. Very kindly ‘Castle Hill Toyota’ again sponsored 2 tables. This year the kids were visiting Stewart House from Penrith, Hawkesbury and the inner west. They were lovely kids. Random House donated some books so they could take home a book each.

The Keynote speakers were Jacqueline Harvey, Oliver Phommavahn and Martin Chatterton.

The room was buzzing and it was great to see the extra effort some schools went to to decorate tables and dress up as book characters.

This is the third ‘Lunch with the Stars’ that the amazing Belinda Murrell has organised.

Next year it’s up to us. I’ll worry about that next year, but I do think this is a marvelous event and it would be a shame not to continue it in 2013.
