This year the Warringah Library Services Young Writer’s Competition was called, The Voices of Warringah. The kids had to write a story that had ‘voices’ in there somewhere. Some of our CBCA members were the judges again. I judged stories from Years 9 and 10. The presentation was at Forestville library on 14th October. A big crowd of excited and proud kids and parents were in attendance. Each judge talked about the stories as they presented the certificate and book prize. Judges were Wendy Blaxland, Lesley Gibbes, Felicity Pulman, Toni Brisland and me.

Then this writing competition is linked in with the Festival for Children’s Literature at Glen Street on 25th October. Libby Gleeson will be the guest speaker and some of the winning stories will be performed as plays or illustrated by Tony Flowers. Another lovely celebration of children’s literature and writing.
